His Story

Dr. Donell Barnett is a minister, combat Veteran of US Army, and licensed psychologist.

He blends psychological science, principles of faith, and cultural wisdom to bring healing under his personal mission to uplift communities.

Some of his previous work includes serving as Director of HIV Prevention Programs, Adjunct Professor of Psychology, Behavioral Health Clinic Director, and Chief of Field Investigations and Program Evaluation. He now serves as an Administrator overseeing Behavioral Health Programs. 

His expertise includes trauma, the role of faith in wellness, and cultural programs to improve the health and well-being of communities left out of economic and social growth. 

Donell is an alumnus of Langston University (B.A.), the University of North Texas (M.Ed), Oklahoma State University (Ph.D.), and the Harvard University Strategic Management program. He has published scholarly and popular press articles, in addition to technical reports and policy papers. 

He is the proud recipient of several awards, the most prestigious being the U.S. Army Bronze Star, The Meritorious Service Medal, a Presidential citation from the American Psychological Association, and the President’s Award from the Association of Black Psychologists. 

Dr. Barnett has the esteemed honor of having served as the 47th President of the Association of Black Psychologists, Inc.
